Analysis and Optimisation of CODE Protocols - Benchmarking the USI Router
European Space Agency (ESA)
1994
This project investigated the performance of a transputer-based User Station
Interface (USI) developed as part of the CODE
programme for ESA. The USI performs IP routing, with an interface to a Very
Small Apperture Terminal (VSAT) which allows the USI to dynamically adjust
the satellite bandwidth and also receive multicast data sent from a central
hun site. Aberdeen University is responsible for measuring the performance
of the unit under operational conditions. Aberdeen University has also conducted
performance tests of the complete CODE
system, including the HSC (Hub Station Controller) to evaluate the equipment
and provide performance data for ESA.
