ERG Camera on the roof of the Fraser Noble Building- the details.
The view from the roof of the builiding is sourced using this machine.
It's an old Sun workstation (Sparc Classic) which was running Sun0S 4.1, it was a VideoPix Frame grabber installed and uses vic to transmit the video but the disk died so we aquired a SunVideo card and installed Solaris 7.
This is the view it transmits to the outside world, H.261 Video to Multicast group address 224.2.132.76 port 49280.
The session (Aberdeen University, UK) is announced using SDR.
The camera was a small domestic CCTV camera with a Composite Video Output, it cost about £35 ($50) from B&Q (www.diy.com). It failed so we replaced it with something better, a deceent CCTV camera in a good quality housing.
This is what the view from the roof is like with a better camera!
