FreeAMP, Zinf, MCTPlayer

Below are details on the installation and use of the FreeAmp/Zinf/MCTPlayer Application.

FreeAmp, Zinf and the MCTPlayer applications are all based upon the same base code and each feature enhancements by different design teams. They can all be used to listen to Multicast MP3 streams.

To listen to a stream sourced by applications such as Livecaster using these tools simply use the "Open URL" option and enter the following details.

rtp://<multicast address>:<udp port>/

For Windows Zinf appears the most robust, for Linux Mandrake MCTPlayer is the only functions package.

Windows

Zinf, MCTPlayer and FreeAmp are all available as windows packages.

Download the installer application for the package of your choice and run it.

Follow the step by step installer.

Linux

MCTPlayer

Unzip and Untar the application.

Run the installer script.

Ensure the MusicBrainz Library is in your path. (ie: /lib or /usr/lib), if not add a link or copy it.

Zinf

This application does not appear to function under Linux Mandrake at present.

FreeAmp

This application does not appear to function under Linux Mandrake, development has also be halted.
